Eight Free Days

Grounds admission is free for all seven days of Fan Week, August 23 to 29. That covers Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day, the singles qualifying tournament, mixed doubles qualifying and open practice sessions with the top players.
Qualifying is real competitive tennis. Players fight for main draw places on outer courts, with far smaller crowds than the main event.
There is one more. Open for All Day falls on Thursday, September 10, with free grounds admission during the second week.
Every fan aged 18 and over needs the free Fan Access Pass from the official US Open app to enter during Fan Week.
One Fan Week ticketed event has already sold out. Roger Federer plays an exhibition on Tuesday, August 25 alongside Andy Roddick, John McEnroe and Andre Agassi. Face value started around $238 and the session is gone. Resale is the only route left.

Ashe starting cheaper than Armstrong looks wrong but is not. The $43 seats are Promenade level, the highest tier in a 23,771-seat stadium. Armstrong seats about 14,000, so even its cheaper seats sit closer to the court.
Ticket Types Explained
Grounds pass. First-come, first-served access to the Grandstand and every outer court. No reserved seat in Ashe or Armstrong. In the first week this is the best value on the grounds, because dozens of matches run at once.
Reserved stadium seat. A specific seat in Arthur Ashe, Louis Armstrong or the Grandstand for one session. Grounds access is included.
Ticket plans. Ten packages, from three-day early-round plans through to the full main draw from August 30 to September 13.
Day and night sessions. Sold separately. Day sessions start at 11 a.m. ET on outer courts and noon in Ashe. Night sessions start at 7 p.m. Day ticket holders must leave before 6 p.m., and night ticket holders cannot enter before 6 p.m. There is no re-entry once you leave.
Getting the Best Value
Go during Fan Week. Free entry, real qualifying matches, open practices, and far smaller crowds.
Pick the first week. Every court is in use, so a grounds pass gets you dozens of matches. From the quarterfinals only Ashe and Armstrong stay in play.
Take a day session over a night session. Day sessions carry more matches and more ticket types, so late availability is better.
Consider Louis Armstrong over Ashe. It seats about 14,000 against 23,771, has its own retractable roof, and the atmosphere is closer to the court.
Wait, if your dates are flexible. Outside the marquee sessions, resale prices often soften in the final days as sellers compete.
If It Rains
Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong have retractable roofs, so play continues there. The Grandstand and outer courts are suspended until the courts dry.
If a session is rained out completely, or fewer than 60 minutes are played, the USTA may reschedule it and honour your ticket, or offer an exchange if you bought directly from Ticketmaster. Resale purchases follow the marketplace’s own policy, so check that before buying.
