The US Open Tennis 2026 schedule runs from Sunday, August 23 to Sunday, September 13 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. The women’s semifinals are tonight, Thursday, September 10, the men’s semifinals are Friday, and the finals are Saturday and Sunday.
Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz is out, beaten in the quarterfinals by Ben Shelton in a match that finished at 3:33 a.m., the latest ending in US Open history. Novak Djokovic had already gone in the first round. The women’s side went the other way: all four top seeds reached the semifinals for the first time since 1975.

Eight days carry free grounds admission: the seven Fan Week days plus Open for All Day on Thursday, September 10. That Thursday still has a ticketed Arthur Ashe evening session for the women’s semifinals. Labor Day falls on Monday, September 7, so the middle weekend delivers three straight days of round of 16 tennis.
Fan Week ran from August 23 to August 29 with free grounds entry. Roger Federer beat Andy Roddick in a Tuesday night exhibition on Arthur Ashe, his first appearance there since 2019, then entered the International Tennis Hall of Fame on Saturday alongside broadcaster Mary Carillo. Only the first match on each court has a fixed start time. Every match after it runs on a “not before” basis, so a 3 p.m. listing can slip by hours if the match before goes five sets.
The forecast is dry through the finals. Thursday is mostly sunny and near 89F, Friday near 81F and Saturday near 79F, with rain chances in single figures or low teens each day.
Two ticket rules catch people out. A day session ticket admits you only up to 6 p.m. An evening ticket will not admit you before 6 p.m., though evening holders may leave and re-enter until 10 p.m.
Ashe and Armstrong sell day and evening sessions separately. An Ashe ticket adds general admission to every other court, but no other ticket gets you into Ashe. Daily coverage is on ESPN and ESPN2. ABC has all three Sundays: the first round on August 30, the round of 16 on September 6, and the men’s final on September 13. The women’s final is on ESPN. Alexander Zverev is the last of the top four men standing. His semifinal opponent, Karen Khachanov, is unseeded and ranked around 50, one of the lowest ranked US Open semifinalists on record. Qinwen Zheng came through qualifying and reached the quarterfinals, beating Madison Keys from 5-0 down in a deciding set and then Iga Swiatek.
Three of the four men’s semifinalists are seeded, Karen Khachanov being the exception. All four women’s semifinalists are top four seeds, which last happened at the US Open in 1975.

Who Is Playing and Who Is Out
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner withdrew on August 21 with a right knee injury, the first major he has missed since his 2019 debut, and he stays world No. 1 through this tournament. Alexander Zverev took the top seeding and is the only one of the top four men left. He has 23 major match wins in 2026, breaking Boris Becker’s German record for a single season.
Elena Rybakina has already clinched world No. 1 for the first time by reaching the semifinals, ending Aryna Sabalenka’s 99 week run at the top. Sabalenka still chases a third straight US Open title. Jessica Pegula is in her third consecutive US Open semifinal, and Coco Gauff is in her first since winning the title in 2023.
The American run has been the story of the fortnight. Ten US players reached the round of 16, the most at any Grand Slam since 2002, and Ben Shelton against Frances Tiafoe guarantees an American man in the final for the first time since Andy Roddick won the title in 2003. Pegula and Gauff keep two American women in the last four.
Venus Williams, 46 and playing on a wild card, lost to Sofia Kenin in a match that started at 12:13 a.m., the latest start in tournament history. Kenin had taken the singles wild card Serena Williams turned down. Two farewell careers ended early: Stan Wawrinka, the 2016 champion, lost in the first round, and Gael Monfils played his last Grand Slam match on Thursday, beaten by 20 year old Learner Tien.
