Order of Play and Draw Dates

The USTA publishes the next day’s order of play the evening before. It lists every court, the match order and which session each match sits in. Only the first match on each court has a fixed start time. Everything after runs on a “not before” basis, so a match listed for 3 p.m. can start hours late if the previous one goes five sets.

FAQ About the US Open Tennis 2026 Schedule

When is the US Open 2026 draw made?

The main draw ceremony is Thursday, August 27, after the final qualifying round. Seedings come from the ATP and WTA rankings published on Monday, August 24. The ceremony is not usually broadcast live.

How are US Open seeds decided?

The top 32 players in each singles draw are seeded by ranking. Seeds are spread through the bracket so no two can meet before the third round, and the top four cannot meet before the semifinals.

When is the daily order of play announced?

The USTA posts it on usopen.org the night before play. Only the first match on each court has a fixed start time.

Can a day session ticket get you into the night session?

No. Day session holders must leave the grounds before 6 p.m., and night session holders cannot enter before 6 p.m. Re-entry is not permitted once you leave.

Which round is played on Labor Day?

Labor Day falls on Monday, September 7 in 2026, the second day of the round of 16 and one of the busiest days of the tournament.

Is US Open qualifying shown on TV?

Yes. All four qualifying days air on ESPN2 and ESPNEWS in the United States and stream in full. Qualifying is also free to attend at Flushing Meadows during Fan Week.

How many matches are played on a typical day?

Early rounds fill every court from 11 a.m. until late at night, often with more than 60 singles and doubles matches. From the quarterfinals only Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong stay in use, so the schedule shrinks to a handful of matches.

Can the US Open schedule change?

Yes. Rain suspends play on the Grandstand and outer courts, though Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong have retractable roofs and continue. Long matches also push later matches back.

Two matter most in the US Open Tennis 2026 schedule. Sunday, August 30 is when the main draw begins, and Sunday, September 13 is the men’s final on ABC.
