Eight Free Days at the 2026 US Open
Grounds admission is free for all seven days of Fan Week, Sunday August 23 to Saturday August 29. That covers the qualifying tournament, mixed doubles qualifying, featured player practices, Media Day and Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day.
The eighth free day is Open for All Day on Thursday, September 10. It is women’s semifinal day, so the Arthur Ashe session is ticketed, but the grounds and outer courts are open to anyone. That is the most free admission in tournament history.
Free grounds admission never includes a ticketed stadium session. It gets you on site, on the outer courts and into general admission areas.
The Fan Access Pass is mandatory this year
New for 2026: every fan aged 18 and over needs a free Fan Access Pass to enter during Fan Week. Turning up at the gate without one will not work.
Register at fanpass.usopen.org or in the official US Open app, then add the pass to your phone wallet. It takes about a minute and covers the whole week. Children under 18 enter with a registered adult. The pass also unlocks event reservations and giveaways, including limited edition Marvel Spider-Man covers for the first 1,000 fans daily from August 24 to 28.

Worth knowing: the cheapest reserved seat in Arthur Ashe all year is not a main draw ticket. Mixed doubles seats start at $30 on August 25 and $45 on August 26, for a 16 team field that includes Aryna Sabalenka with Novak Djokovic, Iga Swiatek with Casper Ruud, Elena Rybakina with Taylor Fritz, and Naomi Osaka with Kei Nishikori. The winners split $1 million.
The Federer exhibition puts the five time champion alongside Andy Roddick, Andre Agassi and John McEnroe. It sold out after going on public sale in June, so resale is the only route left and prices swing widely.

Typical prices are Ticketmaster’s own averages, published August 18. The starting figures are floors, not rates. Standard tickets are dynamically priced, so the same seat costs different amounts on different days.
Ashe starting cheaper than Armstrong looks wrong, but it is not. The $43 seats sit in the Promenade, the top tier of a 23,771 seat stadium. Armstrong holds about 14,000, so even its cheapest seats are closer to the court.

Two numbers stand out. Ashe evening sessions are currently cheaper to get into than day sessions, which reverses the usual pattern and is worth checking before you default to a day ticket. And the semifinals are down more than a quarter on last year, so week two is not automatically the expensive choice.
Prices climbed through both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner withdrawing from Cincinnati, so injury news is not softening this market.
Why so much inventory is resale
A large share of seats never reaches general sale. They go to full series subscribers, the tennis equivalent of season ticket holders, who may legally resell in New York State. That is why resale listings appeared even during the American Express presale in May.
The structure has one useful side effect. Outside the marquee sessions, resale sellers undercut each other as the date approaches because they are competing to clear stock. If your dates are flexible, waiting can pay.

Ticket Types and Session Rules
Grounds pass. First come, first served access to the general admission areas of Louis Armstrong, the Grandstand and every field court. No Arthur Ashe access. In the first week this is the best value on site, because dozens of matches run at once.
Reserved stadium seat. A specific seat in Ashe, Armstrong or the Grandstand for one session, plus general admission access to the venues below it.
Multi session plans. Bundles of several sessions in Ashe or Armstrong, priced below the equivalent singles.
Day and evening sessions. Sold separately. Day tickets admit you from gate opening until 6 p.m. ET, with play from 11 a.m. on outer courts and around noon in Ashe. Evening tickets admit you from 6 p.m., with play from about 7 p.m. An evening ticket will not get you in before 6 p.m., and the Grandstand holds no evening sessions.
Finals weekend. Finals Fan Fest runs September 12 and 13 with expanded grounds access and watch parties in Louis Armstrong and Fountain Plaza. Gates open at 11 a.m. both days. A separately ticketed afterparty with Zedd follows the women’s final on September 12.

- Go during Fan Week. Free entry, real qualifying matches, open practices and far smaller crowds.
- Take a mixed doubles seat. From $30 in Arthur Ashe on August 25, with the top names on court. Nothing in the main draw comes close.
- Compare day against evening. Evening get in prices in Ashe are currently running below day sessions, so check both before choosing.

If it rains. Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong have retractable roofs, so those matches continue. The Grandstand and outer courts stop until the courts dry. A washed out session may be rescheduled with your ticket honoured on the new date. Refunds are not the norm: the USTA runs a limited exchange through its ticket office, and Ticketmaster treats sales as final. Check the marketplace policy if you buy on resale.
Bags. One per person, no larger than 12 by 12 by 16 inches. Backpacks are banned except single compartment drawstring bags. Reusable metal or plastic bottles up to 24 ounces are fine, glass is not. Getting there. Take the 7 train or the LIRR to Mets Willets Point. Riders with disabilities should transfer from the LIRR to the 7 train at 61st Street Woodside.
