Rybakina’s win ended Sabalenka’s 20 match US Open winning streak and denied her a third straight title. It is Rybakina’s first US Open and third major, and she had already clinched the world number one ranking before the final, the first player from Kazakhstan to top the WTA rankings. Both singles champions earned 5.5 million dollars, a Grand Slam record, while runners-up Sabalenka and Shelton each earned 2.8 million. Siniakova and Townsend completed a career Grand Slam as a pair.
