Order of Play, Draw Date and Seeds

The main draw ceremony is Thursday, August 27 at noon ET, straight after the final qualifying round. The USTA then publishes the next day’s order of play every evening. It lists every court, the match order and the session each match sits in. Only the first match on each court has a fixed start time. Everything after runs on a “not before” basis, so a match listed for 3 p.m. can start hours late if the previous one goes five sets.

Seeds are spread so no two can meet before the third round, and the top four cannot meet before the semifinals. The USTA announced the record 108 million dollar pool on August 20, up 21 percent, with first round losers earning 140,000 dollars. Once the bracket lands on Thursday, our draw page and printable bracket go live the same afternoon.

Who Is Playing: Top Seeds and Withdrawals

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner withdrew on August 21 with a right knee injury, his first missed major. That hands Alexander Zverev the top seeding. Carlos Alcaraz returns to defend his title after four months out with a wrist injury, his first tournament since April.

2Carlos AlcarazElena Rybakina
3Felix Auger-AliassimeJessica Pegula
4Novak DjokovicCoco Gauff

Seeding follows the August 24 rankings and is formally confirmed at Thursday’s ceremony. Sabalenka defends the women’s title. Coco Gauff arrives on form after beating Jessica Pegula to win Cincinnati on August 23, where Arthur Fils took the men’s title.

Serena Williams turned down a singles wild card and played only mixed doubles, partnering Alcaraz and losing in the quarterfinals. Her singles place went to Sofia Kenin. Venus Williams, Sloane Stephens and Gael Monfils also hold wild cards.

Alongside Sinner, the withdrawal list includes Jack Draper, Joao Fonseca, Holger Rune, Emma Raducanu and Victoria Mboko. The full field sits on our players page.
