US Open Tennis 2026 Schedule: Dates, TV and Start Times Today
The US Open Tennis 2026 schedule runs from Sunday, August 23 to Sunday, September 13 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. The second round starts Wednesday, September 2, and the men’s final is Sunday, September 13.
Rain hit the first three days and pushed seven first round men’s matches into Wednesday. The tournament has already lost its biggest name: fourth seed Novak Djokovic went out in the first round to Mariano Navone. At 22 days, the USTA calls it the largest event schedule and the most competition days in the tournament’s near 150 year history.
Every session airs in the United States on ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC, with Spanish commentary on ESPN Deportes.

Eight days carry free grounds admission: the seven Fan Week days plus Open for All Day on Thursday, September 10. That Thursday still has a ticketed Arthur Ashe evening session for the women’s semifinals. Labor Day falls on Monday, September 7, so the middle weekend delivers three straight days of round of 16 tennis.
Fan Week ran from August 23 to August 29 with free grounds entry. Roger Federer beat Andy Roddick in a Tuesday night exhibition on Arthur Ashe, his first appearance there since 2019, then entered the International Tennis Hall of Fame on Saturday alongside broadcaster Mary Carillo. Seven first round men’s matches held over by the rain also play Wednesday on the outside courts, none before 12:30 p.m. ET. They include sixth seed Alex de Minaur against Andrea Guerrieri on Court 11, and the suspended Alex Molcan against Benjamin Bonzi on Court 13. The USTA posts the next day’s order of play each evening. Only the first match on each court has a fixed start time.

Arthur Ashe does not start at the same time as the rest of the grounds, and the time changes after opening day. These are the published 2026 session times.

Only the first match on each court has a fixed start time. Every match after it runs on a “not before” basis, so a 3 p.m. listing can slip by hours if the match before goes five sets.
Two ticket rules catch people out. A day session ticket admits you only up to 6 p.m. An evening ticket will not admit you before 6 p.m., though evening holders may leave and re-enter until 10 p.m.
Ashe and Armstrong sell day and evening sessions separately. An Ashe ticket adds general admission to every other court, but no other ticket gets you into Ashe. What channel is the US Open on?
Daily coverage is on ESPN and ESPN2. ABC has all three Sundays: the first round on August 30, the round of 16 on September 6, and the men’s final on September 13. The women’s final is on ESPN. An antenna gets you the men’s final free through your local ABC affiliate. ESPNEWS is not used at all in 2026, a change from recent years.

New for 2026 is RedZone at the US Open, a whip around show running 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from August 30 to September 4 on the app. Disney+ subscribers get selected opening day coverage at no extra cost. The main draw ceremony took place on Thursday, August 27. Seeding came from the ATP and WTA rankings published Monday, August 24. Seeds are spread so no two can meet before the third round, and the top four cannot meet before the semifinals.

Four seeds fell in the first round in each draw. Novak Djokovic, the fourth seed, lost a five setter to Mariano Navone, his earliest exit at the US Open. Arthur Fils (10) lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas, Cameron Norrie (29) to Luca Van Assche and Matteo Arnaldi (30) to James Duckworth. Among the women, Belinda Bencic (12), Maja Chwalinska (20), Barbora Krejcikova (27) and Sara Bejlek (28) are out. Casper Ruud, seeded 19, withdrew after the draw was made.
With Djokovic gone, the men’s bottom half opens up around Carlos Alcaraz, whose projected quarterfinal is Ben Shelton. In the top half the seeds point to Alexander Zverev vs Alex de Minaur and Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Flavio Cobolli.
The women’s bottom half is the harder one. Elena Rybakina and Iga Swiatek sit in the same quarter, and Coco Gauff waits beyond them. Aryna Sabalenka projects to face Linda Noskova in the quarterfinals, then Jessica Pegula in the semifinals. Pegula’s own quarterfinal projects against Karolina Muchova. Who Is Playing and Who Is Out
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner withdrew on August 21 with a right knee injury, the first major he has missed since his 2019 debut. That handed Alexander Zverev the top seeding, and a run here would take Zverev to world No. 1 for the first time. Carlos Alcaraz defends his title after four months out with a right wrist problem and came through the first round without dropping a set.
The top four women all won in straight sets. Aryna Sabalenka chases a third straight title, and Elena Rybakina reaches world No. 1 simply by making the semifinals. Iga Swiatek, seeded 8, also came through.
Venus Williams, 46 and playing on a wild card, lost to Sofia Kenin in a match that started at 12:13 a.m., the latest start in tournament history. Kenin had taken the singles wild card Serena Williams turned down. This is a farewell Grand Slam for Stan Wawrinka, the 2016 champion, who lost in the first round, and for Gael Monfils.
